ON-GOING ASSIGNMENTS:

Journaling.
(from text, page 70.) Start a notebook of observations and keep it handy to write down your impressions and draw sketches that will remind you of what you saw. In his book Developing Story Ideas, filmmaker and teacher Michael Rabiger has developed a system for thinking about and keeping track os such observations, under the categories “Characters,” “Locations,” “Objects,” “Situations,” “Acts” and “Themes.” You may discover other categories that are appropriate for you sensibilities,  such as sense impressions, lines of dialogues, moments of humor, titles, conflicts or paradoxes.

Additionally, you will be using your notebook in writing activities in class. These are intended to 1) develop observation skills; 2) develop writing and descriptive skills; 3) begin to make a collection of ideas, thoughts, observations which will serve as material for your future writing/storytelling.

Clipping file.
Start a file of cool things, things that interest you: news stories, images, short films, animations, recipes, celebrity gossip, games, art, short stories, blogs, websites, etc. You may use your own photos, sound files, sketches also. This research collection will be used in projects through the course. You will be sharing these both on your blog and in class.
